The analysis of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) using a liquid biopsy is increasingly important in the early detection of transplant rejections, non-invasive prenatal tests, as well as the molecular characterisation and treatment monitoring of tumours. In order for cfDNA to be used for the analyses, a minimum concentration in the sample is required. Without stabilisation, the blood cells begin to release gDNA within a few hours. As a result, the original cfDNA portion in the plasma is masked too strongly by gDNA.
The problem is solved by the new S-Monovette® cfDNA Exact, which stabilises the cfDNA at 4 °C to 37 °C for up to 14 days. The S-Monovette® cfDNA Exact standardises the pre-analysis of liquid biopsy samples and guarantees excellent sample quality

Blood samples are an easily accessible source of the biomarker RNA, which can be used for gene expression analyses. Changes in gene expression due to illness can be detected in RNA analysis, which is why RNA is used for diagnosing infections, tumours, cancer, autoimmune diseases and metabolic diseases, making targeted treatment possible. However, its use has limitations due to the low stability of RNA as well as unnatural expression changes (e.g. induction of stress genes) after blood collection.
